Beginning Triathlon Training-5 Top Tips

Triathlon is an event comprising of cycling, running and swimming over a range of varying distances. It is held in France every year. Athletes taking part in these events not only have to be exceptionally good at all three events but also have to manage their stamina through the various stages of events. These events take place back to back and hence it is considered an endurance sports event. Trained triathletes are taught to complete each stage such that they conserve their endurance and energy for the stages that follow. In modern triathlons, the events are conducted one after another and a participant's official timing takes into account the time needed for transition and changing into required gear.

When you are beginning triathlon training the initial stages can be disheartening and also at times can be frightening. A lot of effort goes into the rigorous training. Apart from excelling in each event individually the participants must also bear in mind that the clock is ticking even as they make transitions and change their clothing and shoes. The risk of getting injured or excessively tired during the initial stages can be avoided by doing basic steps to perk up their performance. Always start off by stretching and also make sure you stretch at the end of the routine of exercises. Insufficient stretching of the muscles make you prone to injuries and this can affect your performance. Elasticity of the muscles, ligaments and tendons also increases the performance.

Very importantly, do not be impatient to see results. While beginning triathlon training you may overwork yourself for quicker results but you only end up hurting yourself. Higher performance levels cannot be achieved overnight. Keep in mind that you have a long way to go before the day of the event, initially you probably wouldn't have done more than a mile or two but you have to increase your performance gradually to about running 10 miles in an hour. You can't do this in one shot, look at achieving smaller goals first like improving your time in shorter distance and then go a step ahead into improving your pace. It's the same with swimming and cycling as well, start with simpler and smaller hurdles to cross and eventually as you get better tackle the bigger ones.

Another very important part of the training is to give your body sufficient rest. Taking rest doesn't go to show that you are lazy, you would be abusing your body if you do not take enough rest needed by your body to help the muscles rebuild themselves and give the body time to rest. A general misconception people have is, the more you work out the stronger you become, and on the contrary giving your body the rest is what completes the cycle without which you would end up harming your own body than doing good.

In the same manner it is very essential that you eat right. Intake of proper nutrition along with regular exercises gives the best results. Even though you might be able to eat just about anything and still look fit, doesn't mean you can waver from the prescribed diet. Following the nutrition pattern strictly will benefit you better.

Last but not the least, make sure you make use of the right equipment. Those beginning triathlon training, cannot afford to expensive equipment like the ones who are experienced but there will be an initial expense that cannot be avoided.
