NFL Tickets - Mock Top 10, Version 3.0

Here is my third take on what the Top 10 picks in the 2009 NFL Draft could look like.

1. Detroit Lions - Matthew Stafford, Quarterback, Georgia: Every time I consider another player here, I fall back on the idea that the Lions need to reclaim some of their fan base and sell NFL tickets this upcoming season. A new regime often means a new quarterback, which will create some buzz in the Motor City.

2. St. Louis Rams - Jason Smith, Offensive Tackle, Baylor: Now that the Rams have cut ties with Orlando Pace, it's almost a lock that they'll take an offensive tackle. After a fantastic workout at the combine, Smith has become the consensus number one offensive tackle in a loaded draft class. He's a converted tight end, which has greatly helped his footwork and mobility, and he reminds me a lot of Buffalo's Jason Peters. The Rams were high on Jake Long last season and they'll finally get their tackle in this draft.

3. Kansas City Chiefs - Aaron Curry, Linebacker, Wake Forest: Now that the Chiefs have acquired Matt Cassel from the Patriots, Mark Sanchez is out of the picture. Curry is the consensus best defensive player in the draft and some people think he's the best overall player. This pick is almost a lock as long as Curry is still available.

4. Seattle Seahawks - B.J. Raji, Defensive Tackle, Boston College: Some people still think the Seahawks will take Michael Crabtree even though they signed T.J. Houshmandzadeh. I am not one of those people; it just doesn't seem like the Seahawks' style. They're looking to win now and will look to fill a major void at defensive tackle.

5. Cleveland Browns - Brian Orakpo, Defensive End, Texas: The Browns would be all over Curry if he fell to them, but if he doesn't I think Orakpo is the pick. The Browns weren't able to generate much of a pass rush last season and Orakpo looks like he's the best pass rusher in the draft.

6. Cincinnati Bengals - Eugene Monroe, Offensive Tackle, Virginia: The Bengals need to protect Carson Palmer and Monroe is already an excellent pass blocker. If he's still on the board at number six, expect the Bengals to jump all over him.

7. Oakland Raiders - Michael Crabtree, Wide Receiver, Texas Tech: This would be the dream scenario for the Raiders, who desperately need a wide receiver. I think Crabtree is the best player in this draft and would be a steal at seven. He'll be the Adrian Peterson of this draft, as in the guy who makes people wonder how he slipped this far.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Jeremy Maclin, Wide Receiver, Missouri: The Jags really need help at wide receiver and I think they'll go for Maclin here. With David Garrard, Maurice Jones-Drew and tight end Mercedes Lewis already in place, this offense could be a receiver away from taking off, as long as their offensive line holds up.

9. Green Bay Packers - Everette Brown, Defensive End/Linebacker, Florida State: The Packers are making the switch to the 3-4 and would likely play Brown at linebacker in the Terrell Suggs mold. Green Bay needs help on defense and the decision will probably come down to Brown and Aaron Maybin.

10. San Francisco 49ers - Mark Sanchez, Quarterback, USC: I know Mike Singletary is a defensive guy, but I think by the time the draft rolls around people will be really high on Mark Sanchez. Sanchez is a born leader and I think he'll have a better career than Matthew Stafford. Sanchez could fill the void at quarterback in San Fran for a long time.
