Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tickets- Bucs Retain Some, Add More
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going through a major overhaul this offseason, but that doesn't mean that they chose to let go of all of their stars. It does mean, however, that they are ready and willing to bring in new talent, which they have already started to do. Two of the players they worked hard to keep are wide receiver Michael Clayton and safety Will Allen. Clayton became an unrestricted free agent, but the Bucs decided they wanted him back in Tampa Bay and signed him to a five-year contract worth $26 million, $10.5 million of which is guaranteed. In almost the same breath, the Bucs announced the signing of running back Derrick Ward, tight end Kellen Winslow II and linebacker Niko Koutouvides. Fans can cheer on all the new additions with Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets online.
Clayton has been with the Bucs his entire career as he was chosen by Tampa Bay in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft. His first year with the Bucs was also his most productive as he started 13 out of the 16 game she played in, finishing with 80 receptions, 1,193 yards and seven touchdowns. The next few years weren't nearly as productive for Clayton as he struggled with injuries. Last season, he started nine games and had 38 receptions for 484 yards and one touchdown. With this move, the Bucs are apparently seeing if they can get more out of their first-round pick.
Allen joined the league when he was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Bucs. He worked his way to starting every game by 2006, when he had a career-high 77 tackles as well as one pass defended. Last season, he had no starts but played in all 16 games to tally 19 tackles.
Ward was signed to a four-year deal worth a reported $17 million. Ward wasn't poised to be a top star when he entered the league in the 1004 NFL Draft. He was a seventh round selection by the Jets, who soon waived him and signed Ward to their practice squad. The New York Giants signed him to their roster midway through that season. He worked his way up to being a top contributor for the Giants. Last season, he started in three out of the 16 games he played in, tallying 1,025 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns as well as 384 receiving yards.
The Bucs traded to acquire Winslow from the Cleveland Browns. He was selected in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Browns, but he only appeared in two games before suffering a leg injury. He was also out the entire 2005 season. He bounced back to start every game in the 2006 season, tallying 875 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. He had a career-high 1,106 yards and five touchdowns in 2007. Last season, Winslow started in eight out of the 10 games he played in, finishing with 428 yards and three touchdowns.
Koutouvides was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Seahawks before spending the 2008 season with the Denver Broncos. In his career, he has tallied a total of 123 tackles, one sack and one pass defended.
