Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tickets - Brooks Among Five Released
Just shy of the free agency mark, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers chose to release five of their players, including longtime defensive star Derrick Brooks. Along with Brooks, wide receiver Joey Galloway, halfback Warrick Dunn, linebacker Cato June and wide receiver Ike Hilliard also got the boot. The Bucs have been through an uncharacteristic number of changes this offseason, starting with the replacement of coach Jon Gruden with Raheem Morris. They also hired new general manager Mark Dominik along with a slew of new coaches. From their comments on the players released, Dominik and Morris are asserting that the decisions had more to do with letting younger players have a chance rather than freeing up money in the salary cap, but the cuts do create millions of dollars of room.
