A Special Small Hotel On Cat Island

Why not investigate a special small hotel called Fernandez Bay Village on Cat Island for either a romantic getaway, a Bahamas honeymoon or family vacation

A special hotel is hard to find, and when you find it, you want to keep it a secret because you don’t want everyone else to know. Fernandez Bay Village is such a hotel located on Cat Island one of the out islands of the Bahamas. This is one of the places in the Bahamas where you can honestly say you have found an island escape, a place for a romantic getaway. In case you aren’t aware of where Cat Island is situated, then it is about an hour by plane, south east of Nassau. It is the sixth largest Bahamas Island, stretching over 50 miles from North to South with Exuma Sound to the West and the Atlantic Ocean to the East.

Fernandez Bay Village is very special in that it seems to be equally enjoyed on a Bahamas family vacation as it is by those who seek a romantic getaway. This is a lovely place with unspoiled beautiful white sand beaches, and is a small hotel with just fifteen villas and cottages which sit at the water’s edge under a canopy of coconut palms. With hammocks to relax in, an incredible turquoise blue green warm sea to swim in the crescent shaped private beach just lends itself to fun and romance. The club house has a well stocked library, very necessary for the lazy sunworshipper.

All the accommodations at Fernandez Bay Village are made of native stone and tile with open patios with stunning sea views, garden showers and very comfortable beds, just add to the relaxed ambience of the place. Not all of the rooms are airconditioned, and in fact with the sea breezes it isn’t strictly necessary, although all rooms have a refrigerator. You can choose between the cottages or the villas. For a family vacation the spacious two bedroom villas with their own kitchen are perfect. Hummingbird House is the perfect suite for a romantic getaway package or for a honeymoon, as is The Point House which is at the southern end of the bay offering unrivalled privacy, although it is equally good for families because the beach there is virtually unused.

If you need baby sitting then this can easily be arranged, to allow parents to go fishing, or scuba diving, or exploring some of the fascinating historical ruins on Cat Island.

For the children, then apart from perhaps taking a DVD Player and some movies to occupy them at rest time, even a pack of cards or travel games, they will be well entertained playing in the warm shallow water, hunting hermit crabs, building sandcastles, searching for seashells, snorkelling, even biking into town. The staff will ensure they are safe, and there is no security problem anywhere so they is no problem about them cycling into town. The staff will even supervise kayaking.

The restaurant is one of only four commercial kitchens on Cat Island, so you’ll need the food to be good!! It has a very good reputation and you will be considered booked in for all three meals unless you indicate otherwise. The restaurant’s reputation draws visitors from far and wide. Dinner is served buffet style on the beach patio under the stars. If you want to cook, and you have chosen a villa with a kitchen, then there are two places to shop nearby. The Tiki Bar on the beach is a popular place to meet other guests and visitors, and guests act as their own bartender at this honor bar which must be about unique.

Fernandez Bay Village could be about the perfect spot for a Bahamas Honeymoon or a Bahamas Family vacation. It is undoubtedly a special hotel, but if you need 24 hour room service, and all the trimmings this won’t be the place for you, but if good cheerful service wholesome meals, peace and quiet, in fact a getaway, then you will be more than happy here.
