Boholano Hospitality and Friendship Await You
Bohol is a tourist's delight amongst the more than 7,000 islands of the Philippine Archipelago in Asia.
The island is a cheap, safe, and most worthwhile place to visit if one is on a budget, in search of God, of pristine beauty spots, of relaxation and sports, of arts, culture and history, of quiet and tranquility, of livelihood projects such as pilot agricultural ventures and income-generating home industries, or simply a friendly home away from home, or all of the above.
Highly accessible by air or by sea from Metro Manila Philippines or from Cebu City the province of Bohol has become through the years a major favorite destination among Filipinos and foreigners alike.
God must have been in a joyful mood when He created Bohol. He has poured a lot of splendid natural attractions to this tiny bit of land of over fifty towns which one can leisurely visit in 2-3 days, by car, by van, by bus or by a hired jeepney, basking in the many points of interest that abound.
Nowhere in the world can one find thousands of similarly-formed cone-shaped hills, like huge muffins spread in reckless abandon for the eyes to feast upon, which abound in the neighboring towns of Batuan, Carmen, and Sagbayan's lovely lush green hills during the rainy season, and looking like golden-brown giant Hersheys chocolates in summertime. Hence the coined name: Chocolate Hills.
Bohol is richly steeped in history. The first and only recorded pact of friendship - the Blood Compact between Legaspi, the Spanish conquistador and Sikatuna the native chieftain - took place in Bool, a barangay of Tagbilaran City.
The longest revolt against the Spanish invaders led by Dagohoy, which lasted for almost a century, immortalize the freedom-loving spirit of Boholanos.
The first seeds of the Catholic faith planted by Spain flourished with abandon in Bohol, as testified by the presence of well-preserved centuries-old churches scattered around the province which lend silent testimony to the sterling faith of its inhabitants.
Even before World War II and in the early 1940s the island of Bohol stood up for its seemingly unspoken independence. One remembers the oft-repeated phrase in jest by Boholano travelers: "Goodbye, Philippines! I am going home to the Republic of Bohol!"
Once there, be awed by the awesome beauty of ancient churches, with their lovely architectural designs, stained glass windows and beautiful, life-size frescoes of Biblical scenes and cathechetical themes.
Thrill at the soft, silky touch of tiny tarsiers at their habitats. Stare with dread or hold without fear the biggest and longest snake in captivity. Relax completely in floating restaurants moving leisurely upstream or downstream in winding rivers amidst Mother Nature's grandiose display of pristine beauty.
Visit pilot agricultural ventures and home industries that utilize native, indigenous materials. Allow butterflies, in their sanctuary, to flutter around you and alight upon your palm.
Wake up at dawn to watch whales and dolphins at play. Experience the thrill of trekking, caving, diving, and snorkeling. Play games, enjoy hiking, or delight in burying yourself in warm, white sand which abound in the seashores of Panglao, Anda, Loon, and many more towns.
Gorge on delightful seafoods, fruits and delicacies that abound only in Bohol!
Allow Bohol's siren call to lure you to its bosom. You wont regret it!
Take the first plane from Manila or Cebu City to Tagbilaran City or the first fast craft or ferry boat from Cebu City to either Tagbilaran City or the towns of Tubigon, Talibon, Jetafe, Jagna or Ubay .
The warmth and joy evoked by Boholano hospitality and friendship await you!
