Get Off the Beaten Path & Enjoy Great Outdoors of Maine
What are your dreams for a fabulous vacation? Outdoor recreational excitement? Fine dining? Skiing or swimming, shopping or the symphony? Look no farther than Maine. With a little something for everyone, Maine is sure to delight. And when you seek Maine vacation rentals, you will have the best choices all around the state, from Maine beach vacation rentals to Maine lake vacation rentals among many others.
If you enjoy truly getting away from it all, nothing beats the seclusion of one of Maine lake vacation rentals. Perhaps you'll choose one on large Moosehead Lake in the central part of the state. You can gently glide across the water in a canoe as the sun sets to the eerie cries of loons. Somewhere in the distance, you hear the splash of a fish jumping and you spot a moose making its way into the water in one of the coves. The insistent sounds of cell phones and commercials are far removed from your tranquil setting, and your peaceful mood continues as you settle in to the comfort your Maine vacation home rental.
You might also choose one of the Maine lake vacation rentals along a lake with fresh water beaches, particularly if you're traveling with children. Damariscotta Lake has shores with powdery sand beaches and shallow, easy walks into the water. Crystalline Sebago Lake offers a long stretch of sandy beach as well. You can enjoy days in or on the water, fishing or boating or swimming your summer away. (Some people call that Nirvana!)
Of course, Maine offers ample ocean shoreline as well, so perhaps you'll choose to stay at the southeastern end of the state. Popham Beach, in Phippsburg, is one of the largest saltwater beaches in the state. Here, too, you can find great swimming. At low tide, you can walk out to Fox Island for a spectacular view. Another great option is the town of Saco, which offers soft white sand and more terrific swimming at Ferry Beach.
If you choose to visit Maine during the summer, you won't want to miss the berry picking. There are plenty of locations to pick luscious ripe berries throughout the state, particularly blueberries. They are actually Maine's official berry, growing on more than sixty thousand acres of land in the state.
If, however, a winter wonderland getaway is the type that appeals to you, Maine offers plenty to do as well. Here at the northern end of the Appalachian range, we offer you a range of terrain for your skiing. There are 17 ski resorts for Alpine skiing in the western end of the state, plus Nordic areas for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The young and young-at-heart will have a wildly fun time at the many snow tubing parks.
There are many other fun options for families vacationing in Maine. In West Boothbay, you might visit the Maine State Aquarium, which features an 850 gallon tank plus a 20-foot long touch tank, where visitors can pick up sea creatures like star fish and sea anemone. This being Maine, of course there's also a large lobster collection. For more water fun-this time with you in it-you can visit the Aquaboggin Waterpark with its many waterslides or the Funtown Splashtown with its many rides.
What are you waiting for? There's obviously something for everyone here, and all you need to do to ensure that you thoroughly enjoy your time is choose one of the fine Maine vacation home rentals.
