Vacation Getaways in Nagpur - City of Oranges

Nagpur is one of the beautiful cities of India. It is sometimes referred to as the City of Oranges and is situated in River Nag. The city derived its name from this famous river.

Nagpur is Maharashtra second capital. It has been the central province's capital before it was incorporated with Maharashtra. It is nearly at the geological center of India. The India's zero milestones are found here. It is an important junction of leading industries because the city connects with the manufacturing companies of cotton. Nagpur is in fact noted for cotton textiles and hand woven silk.

Ramtek is a place where the Lord Rama passed by during his exile. Lined here are several temples all dedicated to both Lord Rama and Lakshmana. The temples are over six hundred years old, surmounting the hill of Rama. The foothill has a charming inland.

The famous epic Meghdoota was written here. An old British cantonment is not far from the area. The memorial to dramatist Kalidasa has the town's spectacular view is also near the place.

Markanda is a small parish on the bank of Vainganga River. The name came from Sage Markandeya. There are clusters of 24 temples in here that houses 'Shiva Linga'. The structures resemble the Khajuraho temples.

Tadoba National Park offers minibuses as an alternative way to view the spot. In the tour, the visitors will be delighted to see the rich forest of teak, bamboo, satinwood, gardenia, jamun and mahua. The best time to visit this place is November to June.

The Maharani Laxmibai Statue of Jhansi, Tajabad Sharif, Sitabuldi Fort and Tekdi Ganapati Temple are other tourist destination of Nagpur. The four best weekend getaways are Tadoba National Park, Markanda, Pench National Park and Ramtek.
