Thrifty Dating Ideas for Lovers on a Budget

Whether you're treating on your date or splitting the costs it can be difficult to have a good time for a reasonable price. In today's economy people are extremely cautious with their spending and though the need to find love help is no less in demand many pocket books are screaming for relief.

The idea of spending a potentially romantic evening standing in between a hot dog vendor and shop window broadcasting the latest action film (which best sells the plasma,) may help you pay next month's bills, but doesn't exactly wake cupid from his evening snooze.

Another problem people face is avoiding looking cheap in front of their date, therefore implying that for the duration for this relationship, a side a fries might be as luxurious as it gets.

How does a person keep a date exciting and romantic while not breaking the bank? Well, your location may play a big part in the plan as those who find themselves in ten inches of snow aren't exactly cheering for beach time; while the beach regulars might enjoy a days in the snow.

Whether or not you're an outdoor type there are many romantic setting in the open that are both free of charge and allow for some real conversation:

* Take a walk that ends with dinner in a reasonably priced cafe.

* Pack a picnic lunch and head out to a public park.

* Drive (when gas is affordable,) to the ocean, lake or river and spend the day with some swimming and snacks (remember the hour bit.)

* Find out if any community sporting events are taking place that may be free or very low cost, you may even want to participate!

* Take a nature walk through a community park that you may have lived next to for ten years and never known about.

* Visit a local zoo, preserve or aquarium if a love of animals is present, they are often reasonable priced if you can avoid the dining and gift shop (or perhaps just a small stuffed polar bear?)

* Check to see if your community has any free or low cost concerts in the park coming up.

* Mini golf is also a fun and fairly cheap way to spend an evening with your date and can help to relieve a little of the stress by bringing out the kid in both of you!

* If available in your area drive-in movies offer a wonderful night of entertainment for a great price; you can pack the food and drinks and they often show double features.

The most important thing when getting to another person is that you get a chance to do just that. Many activities that people normally gravitate toward on the dating scene are simply the icebreakers to get things started. It's important to remember that regardless of the surroundings, if you and your date hit it off the date will be memorable.

For those who cringe at the idea of an outdoor romance, there are many activities which can help to bring your closer without the high cost:

* If both you and your date have an interest in learning visiting a local museum of history or science can be a fun way to spend the day; stop by a local sub shop with a view of the city and take in more sights while discussing what you learned together.

* If a movie is in the budget, head to a matinee they are usually much cheaper than evening shows and less crowded. Save on concession costs by planning for a reasonably priced late lunch after.

* Check your community calendar for any free or low cost theater events, the talent may be up and coming, but in a few years you may be able to tell people you saw an Oscar winner playing a chicken!

* Find out if any local bars or clubs are having a special dollar drink night and see if your date is game.

For those who have become comfortable enough with their partners to spend a little time in the home there are several options for keeping the cost low, while still planning a fun evening or day:

* Grabs some fun, inexpensive snacks and rent a movie you will both enjoy.

* Spend some time testing your skills by playing a board or video game with your date; you'll probably laugh a great deal while you learn.

* Set up a romantic dinner by testing your skills as a chef, lighting some candles and creating the perfect romantic atmosphere at home (you won't even need a taxi if you have too much wine.)

* If you and your date enjoy reading look into joining a book club together, or simply share one at home together by spending the evening reading to one another.

* Make your physical time a special combo of love and lust by planning something a little out of the ordinary for the bedroom.

In many cases the heart is warmed more by the thought behind the planning of the time spent together than any extravagant expense. While you may wish that you could spend more on your new sweetheart, in all likelihood they will understand your financial crunch and be happy just to spend time with you, a far more valuable asset than any that can be purchased with money.
