5 Tips on a Green Wedding - Reusing and Recycling

It is a trend that couples would like to make their wedding more environmental friendly. In fact there are many aspects to be considered in order to plan a really environmental friendly wedding. You can make your wedding small and minimal. You can hire a wedding vendor which takes green wedding as their strategies. In this article, I will try to discuss on the aspect of reusing and recycling.

Indeed, a lot of items will be just thrown away after the wedding. It is a pity that you have a sweet and romantic wedding but it is destroying our Earth. To this end it is always a good idea to get items that are reusable and recyclable. The followings are some items you may consider.

Wedding Stationery

The best way of making green wedding stationery is using e-stationery. You can send your save the date note, wedding invitation by emails. However, wedding experts will tell you that your wedding stationery, especially wedding invitation, sets the tone of your wedding and it is too informal to have e-invitation.

There is no doubt that the wedding invitation is very important. If you think it is so important that a wedding card needs to be a formal card, you can choose paper with recycled content.

I will recommend you only make the invitation physical. Other stationeries such as RSVP and save the date note can still be sent via email. You can also consider putting your wedding details on a wedding website, so that people can refer to your website from time to time.

Wedding Gown

The gown is very essential for your wedding. Some people will even make the gowns for their own. In order to make it more environmental friendly, you can try to use a used gown. Here the used gown can have two meanings. It will be perfect if the gown is also your mother's. It is not only green but also has special meaning since the gown is from your mother. You may also try to find a vintage gown, which should be very beautiful from some shops which sell vintage wedding items. Besides, renting a gown can also be a good idea, in terms of the notion of reuse.

If you are determined to make a new gown of your own, you should try to keep it after the wedding (I suppose most brides will). The gown can be used by you daughter some day. So it is still a reusable item.

Wedding cake

You may think that wedding cake should not be something reusable, the guests will eat the cake anyway. This is true and what you need to do is not to order a cake that is too big compared to the number of the guests. However, if you buy new pillars for the cake, mostly they will be thrown after your wedding. You can consider renting the pillars. It will not be a difficult task and you can consult your baker for that.

Wedding Favor

Firstly you should keep the packages of your wedding favors minimal. Packages are usually considered to be a waste and it is in fact doing no good to our environment. For the packaging materials, you can try to stick on paper with recycled content.

Venue Decorations

Again, for the decoration materials, you should try to rent them instead of buying new ones. You may also consider using artificial flowers instead of fresh flowers since artificial flowers are reusable.
