Fun and Exciting Contemporary Wedding Invitations

There are many different ways you can make your wedding into something that is truly your own, and truly unique.  Well-chosen wedding invitations are the perfect way to notify people of your wedding and to make it inspiring to all who plan on attending. Remember, your wedding invitation is the first thing that people see when it comes to your wedding. They might have heard your plans, or might know a little something about what your day will be like, but the wedding invite itself is going to be the first real thing that they have regarding your day. A good wedding invitation will speak volumes about your wedding, and a not-so-great wedding invitation will do the same thing. In order to have the best wedding invite, you need to take advantage of the time you have to plan and of all of the unique wedding invitation information out there, in order to create the perfect invite for your perfect day.

Past Invites

In the past, wedding invitations were not fun, or contemporary. They were all as fancy as possible, printed on stiff paper and with a scrolled hand. Of course, that was also the way that most weddings were back then, too. As stiff and scrolled as possible, not to mention as fancy as possible too. One of the greatest things about contemporary wedding invitations, though, is that you can still have a fancy and formal invitation, it just does not have to be the same old invitation that your mother and grandmother used before you.

With fun and contemporary wedding invitations, the sky is the limit for what you would like to accomplish. There are so many different things that you can do with your wedding invitations to personalize them and make them as exciting as your day.

Colors

First of all, think about pizzazz when you are thinking of colors. In the past, wedding invitations were almost always done on white or ivory paper – and the only color choices you had were with the printing, or maybe with the monogram on the front. However, today you can get much more out of the current color choices. You can have one color for the background, another for the boarder, and still another for the designs and fonts. You can have extreme colors that pop, or subtle colors that blend together like a painting of a sunset.

You can use any colors that you like, and you can usually use several of them on one invitation. If the wedding colors are pink and brown, think about flipping them around. Instead of putting pink and brown letters on a white background, make the background brown and then put pink letters on, or even do it the other way around. Many times people will take a lighter color and use it for the background, and then take their darker color and use it for the font – but how much fun could a dark blue background be with pale yellow letters on it? As long as you use a font which is easy to read – and outlined if necessary – you can do anything with the colors that you would like.

Fonts

Fonts are another focus altogether. You can use more interesting fonts than the simple fancy printing on many older-style wedding invitations. Try using bubble letters, or block capitals, too. Use letters that complement the style of your wedding, and your overall theme. Hopefully you will find that you are happy with the effect.

Shapes, Pictures and Designs

You can also use more than just a monogram of the first letter of your last name. You could, for example, add a picture of the two of you to the invitation, or perhaps a design that is somehow related to you as a couple, or related to the wedding itself.

Size

Another way to make your wedding invitation fun and contemporary is to use a different size than most invitations are.  Long and narrow invites, or even invitations that are circular, can be very exciting and different. An unusual shape will also make the invitations instantly distinguishable from all the other mail your recipients get that day!

Attachments

You might also want to think about using attachments. With glitter, strings, or even tied-on plastic wedding rings, you can make a statement and a beautiful wedding invitation in a snap.

Extra-Ordinary Invites

For those who are truly daring and different, you might want to consider wedding invites that are way out there as well. A message in a glass bottle or a post-it-type note on the bottom of a flip-flop can send a wonderful message about your wedding and about you all at once. When it comes to fun and exciting contemporary wedding invitations, the sky is really the limit!
