For many brides, from the time they get engaged, plans typically go full steam ahead. The first thing that must be determined and agreed upon between the bride and groom is the date. This is because you must choose a date that is best for the both of you; a date that will not conflict with anything else in either of your schedules. Setting the date to be the day after one of you starts a new job, returns from a business trip or something similar is not a good idea. It is important to choose a date that will allow you enough time to plan the wedding you want and be ready for it when its time.

The next thing you should agree upon is where the wedding should be. This often comes into play with what religion, if any, the bride and groom are. For many people, a wedding is all about a religious union. However, for others it is a strictly legal ceremony. Whatever the case, the bride and groom must agree upon what type of ceremony is desired. If they are different religions, they must come to a conclusion about what one they will use for the ceremony. Weddings are held anywhere you can imagine. Some people opt to have them in a place of religious worship, while others prefer having them on a sandy white beach. Wherever you decide to have your wedding, make sure that the people you want to have at it can access it without too much difficulty and burdensome expense.

And then comes the "fun part": choosing things like a bridal dress, flowers, decorations, a reception hall, a photographer, a honeymoon destination, bridesmaid dresses, tuxedos, food, cars such as limousines, invitations, toasting glasses, and wedding cakes. Then there are the possible bachelor and bachelorette party plans, the shower plans, the gift registry, and putting together a guest list. All of these "fun" things are the things that usually cause the most stress. This is because they usually cost a great deal of money, take tedious planning to get, and oftentimes cause sour feelings between all of the people involved in the planning. To deal with them appropriately, it is best to get the help of someone who is a good organizer (if you are not one yourself).

A friend, family member, or even a hired wedding planner can help you with this. It is also key to remember that this is your day to get married. Even though others may have their opinions about what you should do and what to pick, it is best to do what you want and what you can afford (especially if you are paying for it yourself). In the end, your wedding day is a day that you will cherish in your memory forever. This is why it is best to have as much fun in the planning as you can.
