The Trend Towards A Wedding Gifts List

Something that I have noticed with weddings these days is the cheeky little insert within the invitation depicting all the wonderful gifts and selected wedding gifts that the happy couple would prefer you to buy. At first, it makes one feel obliged to go out and purchase the selections and very often, this is above your budget price range (for those unable to afford an expensive gift). After all, it is not the value of the gift based on price, but the quality of the present.

The growing popularity in having gifts pre-selected will give the guests a piece at mind from going through the trouble of finding that perfect present. There will be no worries on trying to impressive the happy couple and will save them the fuss of spending time shopping. Wedding gifts are a symbolism of sharing the joyous day and celebrating a union - what better way to do it than telling your guests what to buy you since you have spent quite a bit of money on the celebration itself.

However, as a guest you are merely enjoying a day of free booze, food and a night of dancing. The only expense is spending out on a wedding outfit and a fancy gift. The list is designed for the benefit of the wedding couple and if prepared carefully it will produce the results that they would want. There is a subtle approach to producing a gifts list, so if you are feeling anxious about people's reactions then to begin with you need to feel confident in your decision.

This is something you should not feel threatened by, as the advantage of having a wedding gifts list is that it will save them the time and effort in finding you a perfect gift and worrying over what you would like. Whilst making your wedding preparations you will need to take the time in selecting the gifts that you would want to receive from your guests. Depending on how many guests you have attending your wedding; you may have an unlimited number of selections to make.

The awkward part may fall on presenting this list of pre-selected gifts to the guests, but quite simply you slip in a list, send an email round or have it spread word of mouth. You will find that not everyone will find it cheeky of you to ask for the presents that you want; on the contrary, people will feel more relieved with not spending hours upon hours trying to find the right present for you. Furthermore, they will have the freedom to purchase these for you online the internet.

You will however, need to make sure that people have internet access - unbelievably there are people who do not have internet (take your in-laws for instance!) and will be completely clueless with this concept of a wedding gifts list. In this instance if you know the people you are inviting, perhaps the other alternative would be to pop in a donation charity card. This works well with people who are no longer present and will act as a memory dedicated to them.

Above all, take your time in selecting a gift. Think carefully about what you will need and what will just turn into a prop in your house gathering dust. Many couples will find that they will receive an abundance of plates and dishware, which in the end stay in their boxes and stored in a cupboard for many years, or sold on eBay later as the years go by.
