The Science of Getting Rich: 7 Principles from Chapter Seven

"Gratitude"

Gratitude isn't something that is talked about very much, especially if you live in the United States. Unfortunately here, too many people focus on what is wrong instead of focusing on what is right, and there are a lot of things that are right.

By being thankful for the good in your life, you open up your life to attract more good. To make gratitude a part of your life, there are certain things you need to do.

1. You must be in perfect unity with the mind of God.

God put the desires of your heart into your heart. The desires that God puts into your heart are good desires. He has a special purpose for each one of us, and when we fulfill that purpose, the byproduct is not only happiness, but a "life well lived."

Remember, true riches isn't just about attaining money. It's about attaining wealth in every area of our lives. To attain our fullest potential, we have to understand what God's will is for us. When we understand His will for us, then we will seek those things He wants us to have. It's been my experience that what He has in mind for me is always better than anything I dreamed of myself.

2. Believe there is one intelligent substance that all things come from; believe this substance gives you everything you desire; relate to this substance with a deep and profound gratitude.

The universe is made up of atoms. All of these atoms are made of energy, which means the universe, and everything in it is made of energy. This energy can be changed into anything that we want. This is why there is a limitless supply of things in the universe.

3. Lack of gratitude can keep you in poverty.

When we fail to express our gratitude, we cut ourselves off from God. Since God will never violate our free will, then He cannot give us things we don't ask for, or things we don't want, even if those things will make our lives better, and they are things He wants us to have.

This is why it is so important to express gratitude. By expressing gratitude, we are thanking God for what He has done for us. We are showing our approval. This allows God to continue to work in our lives and continue to bring good things into our lives.

4. The more grateful we are, the more good things we receive, and the faster they will come.

Good things come to you through the obedience of certain laws. When we are grateful, we draw closer to God. This puts in touch with the source of everything. We also become more in tune with God's will for us. The beauty of all of this is that God has created each of us to desire certain things. When we're in touch with the mind of God, then we will desire those things He wants for us.

Gratitude has another effect: gratitude is positive energy. When we are grateful, we draw more of this positive energy into our lives. We draw more of the good things into our lives. This isn't possible if we are focusing on the negative.

5. There is a Law of Gratitude.

The Law of Gratitude says that action and reaction are always equal, and in opposite directions. When we are grateful, we are reaching out to God. This is the action. The reaction is that God is reaching back toward us. "Draw nigh unto God, and He will draw nigh unto you." (James 4:8)

6. Gratitude must always be strong and constant.

By keeping your gratitude strong and constant, you will keep the flow of good things coming toward you. Gratitude keeps you connected to God.

The other part of this is that by staying in gratitude, you avoid thinking about negative things. This helps you avoid drawing negative thoughts and negative energy into your life. As our gratitude grows, so does our faith.

7. Gratitude keeps you from sabotaging your efforts and dwelling on things that will sabotage your success.

By constantly exercising gratitude, you increase your faith. Hebrews 11:1 says that "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." By increasing our faith, we focus on what we want, and we don't focus on what we don't want. This allows us to attract into our lives our hearts' desires.
