Three Areas That Have Seen The Benefits Of Fibreglass Grating
With the need to be every more safety conscious, no matter what area of business you are involved in, it seems that more and more products are being designed and manufactured with public safety in mind. Companies are now dedicating time and resources to developing new products that can help avoid unnecessary accidents and expensive litigation. It is not uncommon for businesses, especially small businesses, to be ruined by court cases where they have found to be responsible or negligent after an accident has occurred.
One of the most common accidents reported is that of falling over on uneven or slippery ground. It's easily done and has happened to most people, sometimes with terrible results. Sometimes even the smallest crack in a pavement or the slightest drop of water on a surface can lead to an accident.
Even where there does not appear to be any danger the fact that you did nothing can count against you so you need to be pro active in these type of situations. Luckily there is help at hand and there are many companies offering services and products specifically aimed at making walkways and surfaces safer. Particularly where the public are concerned this is no longer an area anyone can afford to ignore. The consequences could be disastrous.
Fibreglass grating has become the popular choice among many businesses as a way of surfacing areas that are in constant use. It is in many ways the perfect solution to a pressing problem. It is cost effective and provides a viable alternative to traditional material used in surfacing like wood and steel. Fibreglass grating is incredibly slip resistant and many companies make it with a gritted and concave surface; further improving its anti slip qualities and offering incredible grip and support in wet, icy or unstable conditions.
Fibreglass grating is ideal for many different industries and sectors as it is lightweight and chemical resistant. It weighs almost a third of the equivalent type of steel material. It also has many other benefits including being fire resistant, non-magnetic and relatively maintenance free. It's this versatility combined with its rugged functionality that makes it such a popular product.
Chemical Industry - Fibreglass grating has many inherent qualities, one of which is that it is impervious to damage from strong chemicals. Unlike wood, steel or alumminium it will not deteriorate over a long period time in conditions where it may come into constant contact with chemicals. It can withstand, fumes, gasses, spills, splashes and even submersion; making it clearly superior to conventional materials.
Many of the materials used in the chemical industry are highly combustible. The last thing you want is a material that will ignite if exposed to fire or sparks. Heavy tools being dropped can cause sparks. As fibreglass grating is not combustible it is the ideal material for use in industrial environments.
Marine Industry - The gritty surface that is one of the main features of fibreglass grating makes it the ideal material for use where there are slippy conditions due to surface water. Marinas and even boats employ the material to ensure the safety of employees and the public. The fact that it is non corrosive is also a factor as the salt in sea water can ruin other types of material.
Events Industry - Fibreglass grating is very strong which allows for constant use and constant force or pressure to be applied to it. It is perfect for conditions where it will be in constant use. It also has an advantage over surfaces like steel grating in that it has a certain amount of give but will return back to its original shape when pressure is removed. It will not buckle like steel. It is also easy to transport and install making it perfect for short term use.
