Cell Phone Signal Booster Kits
Cell phone signal booster kits have become very popular in the last few years as companies and individual consumers try to capitalize on the different products available. As cellular networks continue to grow in users and activations their coverage footprints often don't catch up. Their capacity is diminished by the amount of users who are using the network and by the continued decrease of coverage due to attenuation.
Attenuation is just another word for weak coverage if you want to get right down to it, so if you hear someone speaking about their cellphone coverage being attenuated when they enter a building, drive to the country, or go to a basement parking lot - that is what they're talking about.
It used to be that the FCC did not approve the use of consumer level cellular repeaters because they were worried about the overall effect on the noise floor that the cellphone networks have to contend with. These rules have changed and manufacturers are making some quality cellphone signal boosters now.
Many of these different signal boosters are automatically configurable regardless of the network your using. If you are using Verizon. At&t, T-Mobile, Cingular, Virgin or whomever, it doesn't really matter because the booster may work on all of the above mentioned networks. There are three main different types of boosters all the market and these are as follows;
Single-Mode
Tri-Mode
Dual-Mode
Most all manufacturers of cellphone booster kits make the dual-mode and tri-mode kits as the single mode systems just are not as good, and the cost is much the same to manufacture, so consumers will naturally buyout all of the tri-mode and dual-mode systems and leave the single mode systems on the shelf. You can buy boosters at most department stores now and any consumer electronics store.
These consumer level boosters are not to be confused with the commercial level cellular repeaters which use it a lot more power and are not approved by the FCC for consumer use.
These commercial level cellular repeaters are also known as bidirectional amplifiers or BDAs. You are likely never to see one of these but you will benefit from them because many owners of large buildings such as shopping malls, hospitals, schools use commercial grade signal boosting in these buildings.
Usually you need to use a signal booster when you are living in a rural area or in a urban area deepen the basement of a large building, or tucked away behind some kind of large structure made of concrete and metal. Even if you are driving in your car there can be different places in the city that you can't get coverage (or have extremely weak coverage) due to the interference that is possibly inherent at that point on the map within the coverage area that your network tries to maintain. I worked for a cellular phone company long enough to know that it is not a perfect science, in fact, it is far from perfect.
If you are really sick and tired of losing calls, dropping calls, or missing calls I highly recommend looking into the purchase of a consumer level signal booster for your home, your car, or your house. These boosters do not sure you with any undue exposure so don't be fooled by anybody who claims so. The FCC has strict manufacturing guidelines in place for manufacturers who designed and make cell phone signal boosters.
